How are zones used?
Zones are used to visually display IFTA data for each state. This helps an underwriter to different the risk level of a motor carrier’s driving exposure and quickly see how a fleet’s mileage distribution across zones changes its overall risk profile.
For example, states in zone 1 (red) may indicate the highest risk per mile, reflecting dense traffic, complex road networks, unfriendly legal venues or historically higher loss experience.
States in zone 2 (blue) may indicate a moderate risk level, where driving conditions and historical losses are more typical and therefore weighted less heavily than zone 1.
States in zone 3 (green) may represent relatively lower risk, so miles in those states contribute less to overall exposure.
How do you setup zones?
Only an "admin" can setup zones. The setup will apply to all users of that company.
- Go to the "Organization Settings" for your account, then click "Customization".
- Click "New Zone" then choose the color, name, and appropriate state abbreviations.
